What to Expect from Session

Walking into couples therapy can feel intimidating. You might worry that you'll spend sixty minutes rehashing the same old arguments, or that someone will be labeled "the problem."

In this space, we treat conflict not as a sign of failure, but as a normal—and necessary—signal that your relationship is ready to evolve. Our sessions are structured to help you move past reflexive arguments and into conscious growth.

During our time together, we will focus on:

  • Identifying Your Relationship Stage: We will look at where you are currently operating—whether you are working through the challenges of early togetherness, navigating a push for independence, or trying to build a secure partnership.

  • Practicing Differentiation: We will actively work on your capacity to hold onto your own values, boundaries, and truth while staying emotionally connected and curious about your partner’s reality.

  • Managing High-Conflict Loops: When reactive patterns show up in the room, we pause. We look at what is driving the intensity so you can learn to self-soothe, state your needs clearly, and stop expecting your partner to manage your emotional state for you.

 COUNSELLING IN VICTORIA, BC

Moving Beyond the Loop

We aren't aiming for a sterile, conflict-free relationship. True intimacy is the capacity to handle differences, tolerate discomfort, and engage in successful negotiation.

As you develop a stronger sense of self and a clearer understanding of your partner, the pressure to always agree begins to lift. You will leave with the practical resilience to be two distinct people navigating a shared life with clarity, maturity, and deep respect.

Wise Body Counselling is based in Victoria BC and serves clients internationally

In my work with the body, I am deeply aware that all healing happens in place. I offer my gratitude to the the Lək̓ʷəŋən peoples, represented today by the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations, who have stewarded these lands where I live and work and I strive to walk this path with humility and respect.
